Reseña del libro

This book evolved chiefly from the content of undergraduate electrical and energy engineering courses taught for 35 years by Dr. Ewald Fuchs at the University of Colorado at Boulder. To educate non-electrical engineering students and professionals in energy-related fields, the book discusses concepts such as the laws of thermodynamics to find solutions based on the application of heat pumps/air conditioning units, hydro turbines, and wind and solar power plants. Chapters 2 through 8 cover electric circuit theory topics such as direct-current (DC) steady-state and transient analysis and alternating-current (AC) steady-state performance based on phasors. Chapters 9 through 12 introduce the most important semiconductor switches, which are indispensable for the utilization of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and propulsion systems including regeneration. In the last chapter, after introducing the revolving field theory, permanent-magnet materials and their application to brushless DC machines (operating either as motor or generator) for hybrid/electric automobiles are discussed.
