The mission of the Florida Department of Corrections is to protect the public, provide a safe and humane environment for staff and offenders, and supervise offenders at a level of security commensurate with the danger they present. The men and women in corrections do this with only a radio, handcuffs, and pepper spray. Every day that they go behind the fence is a day in harm’s way. Sometimes in their attempt to rehabilitate and correct damaged personalities all the while keeping them secure from the public, things go horrible wrong and a Code Signal Six is called out.
