Reseña del libro

Virtual Palaentology, The Use Of Interactive 3D Digital Models As A Supplement Or Alternative To Physical Specimens For Scientific Study And Communication, Is Rapidly Becoming Important To The Science. Despite This, No Modern Synoptic Text Exists To Detail The Methods And Considerations Involved In Producing And Working With This Form Of Data, Many Of Which Are Poorly Understood By The Palaeontological Community. The E - Book Format Lends Itself Naturally To Such A Work, In Particular In Its Ability To Support A Large Number Of  Illustrations (For Case - Studies, Software Screen - Captures, Workflow Diagrams Etc), And In Its Support For The Inclusion Of Video Files, Which Represent A More Satisfactory Means Of Illustrating Virtual Models Than Simple Images. We Also Believe That The Portability And Searchability Associated With The Format Will Enhance The Utility Of The Work.   With The Exception Of Short Introductions And Conclusions, The Book Will Consist Of Explanations Of The Concepts And Outline Methodologies Involved In Each Case, Reviews Of Studies That Have Used The Methodologies, And Where Appropriate More In - Depth Case Studies Of More Detailed Methodologies And Applications. Many Of The Latter Will Be Drawn From The Authors Own Work. While Reviews Of What Has Been Done Will Be Provided, The Emphasis Of The Work Will Be On Explaining Both In Detail And In Concept How Virtual Models Can Be Produced And Used. Illustrations Of Virtual Specimens And Stages In Reconstruction Methodology Will Be Provided Throughout, Both As Still Images And As Embedded Video. We Have No Good Estimates At Present For Number Of Illustrations, But Would Expect There To Be Well Over 100
