Reseña del libro

I have learned much about the co-occurring difficulties that accompany PTSD. Consequently, my perspective of the systemic impact that trauma has on human beings has altered accordingly. I now view it as a systems fault built into our species. Physiologically, it seems that we are instinctively programmed to avoid stimuli which might do us harm. What we are not programmed to do is to 'turn off' the switching mechanism that immortalizes the memory of trauma within each of us. In each new chapter, a symptom complex that often accompanies PTSD is introduced. For example, I've come to the conclusion that unless all aspects of the comorbid condition of the sleep disorder are eliminated through a specific treatment, the PTSD neuronal network is still activated. By this measure alone, all current treatments would be considered failures. Two unique chapters are included with the first discussing the association between PTSD and dementia as well as pseudo-dementia. The second refers to an exciting newly emerging science that offers the potential for at least partial remediation of traumatic brain injury as well as dementing disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease. This intervention is referred to as Photobiomodulation. Dr. Michael Hamblin, who has written over 289 peer-reviewed articles, has graciously written the foreword to this book noting that: "In this sense, acoustical neuromodulation and photobiomodulation share a common mechanistic foundation resting on neuroplasticity. As I read about the applications of RESET Therapy to the PTSD comorbid conditions enumerated in this book, I was struck with an awareness of the inherent potential in each and every cell in our body to heal and restore itself." Indeed, 'heal and restore' is finally becoming possible through the advances forthcoming from Dr. Frank Lawlis, creator of the BAUD and Dr. Michael Hamblin, pioneer in the development of photobiomodulation.
