She did remember that Zack and I were her children, so we were all hopeful. During the party, though, she reverted back to Cindy. Even though Sarah had gotten to know her as both Cindy and my mother, she still thought it was very bizarre. At the end of the long day, I tucked Cindy into her bed and told her goodnight. "Jimmy," she said, "where do babies come from?" I wasn't sure how to tell my mother about the birds and the bees. "Why do you ask, Cindy?" I inquired. "Because George says he wants to make a baby with me," she answered matter of factly. I wondered who George was and why he was saying that he wanted to make a baby with my mother. He probably was someone that just didn't understand that it was inappropriate. I kissed Cindy on the cheek and told her goodnight. Mother's nurse arrived bright and early the next day. She was a larger, black woman, with a cheery disposition. "Mr. Muse," she asked, "I need to take this blood work to the lab. Can you watch your mother for me?" "Sure," I answered, "But, you need to call me Jimmy. No more of this Mr. Muse stuff. That was my Grandfather. The rest of us are very informal, and we'd like to have you think of us as family while you're here." She was pleased to hear that and left for the lab. I decided that since it was a nice day and mother was herself at the moment, that it might be nice to go by and visit Julia and the hotel. Julia had been doing a great job...so much so that I rarely had to even visit the hotel. She would occasionally ask me to come in and have lunch with her or that Marty missed seeing me every day, but she understood that I had other responsibilities. "Oh, look at you!" she exclaimed to mother as I wheeled her in. "How have you been?" "I've been good, Julia," mother told her. "It's so good to see you." I let them visit while I checked over a few things at the hotel. When we got home, Bertie told us that the lab had called her already with the results of the blood work on mother. "Is everything alright?" I asked when I saw the concerned look on her face. "I'm not sure," she replied. "You're mother is going to have a baby!"
