The Doctrine of the Eons: God's Immutable Plan is an account of how God will bring about the salvation and reconciliation of all mankind. Each chapter provides a theological account of how this will be accomplished, including dispelling common myths about God and focusing on the meaning of the word ""immutable."" This leads to a discussion of the Hebrew and Greek definitions of ""eon"" and ""eternal,"" and we discover that neither the Old nor the New Testament uses the word ""eternal."" ""Eternal"" tends to refer to an indefinite amount of time, whereas ""eon"" is more definite; the latter term is primarily used when the Bible talks about the end-times. Finally, the doctrine of universal salvation is presented, arguing that God will have all men be saved and that he will eventually reconcile all creation. ""The concept of the eons shapes and defines the Christian message, yet little scholarly attention is devoted to this notion. On the one hand, the theological preoccupation with the crises facing humanity, and on the other, a commodification of Christianity is partly to blame for Christian churches and communities losing sight of the power of the eternal, and its capacity to transform life in the present. Doctrine of the Eons disrupts the status quo by offering a compelling and comprehensive analysis of the eons, in relation to salvation history and human flourishing."" --Professor Robert Beckford, Canterbury Christ Church University Paige-Patric J. D. Samuels is presently teaching theology at the Institute of Theology and Christian Counselling in London, England. He obtained his PhD at Trinity College Bristol, England. Paige is married to Noreen and they have three children: two boys and one girl. Paige-Patric currently spends time as an independent researcher, conducting critical papers for symposium and conferences.
