Richard Burnett Hays fue un teólogo y biblista estadounidense, reconocido por su trabajo riguroso en el Nuevo Testamento y la hermenéutica bíblica. Su enfoque se caracterizó por una lectura literaria y teológica de las Escrituras, atenta a las resonancias internas del texto bíblico más que a interpretaciones aisladas o puramente históricas. Hays combinó erudición académica con una prosa clara y argumentativa, evitando el tecnicismo vacío y apostando por lecturas con peso ético y teológico real.
