Mama Said: A Collection of Wit, Humor, and Deep-Fried Wisdom is a collection of columns by humor & lifestyle columnist Sudie Crouch. Even though Sudie is in her (ahem, late) 40s, her own Mama, the Crazy Redhead, still tries to tell her Kitten what to do, when to do it, and what she did wrong – sometimes all in the same conversation. But she is also her biggest cheerleader. Granny, on the other hand – the Redhead Prime – gives no one any slack and called it like she saw it, all the way up until she passed away. Her blunt, Southern steel was seldom if ever softened. Readers have compared Sudie’s writing style to Erma Bombeck with a touch of Lewis Grizzard. She was really thrilled by the Grizzard reference as she is still talks about the death of his black lab, Catfish, on occasion.Her anecdotes and parables gently remind us that sometimes, as much as we may not like it, our Mama’s usually right.
