I did not write these poems for public reading. When I wrote them, I was a reclusive, shy, and frightened youth. I felt like I wasn't allowed to speak my mind and give opinions about what was happening in my life for fear of getting my ass kicked by my father or any other authoritative figure. So I would hide my feelings in my journal, where I was in control and I could speak my mind about all that surrounded me.
