Grover Jones, the son of a coal miner, grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana and dreamed of one day becoming a sign painter at the movie studios in Hollywood. Not the highest ambition but one that the young movie lover thought would get his foot in the door. He was right, it did. From sign painter, to technical director, eventually to gag man, writer and director moviemaking moved from dream to career for Grover Jones. THE STORY OF GROVER JONES details that career of the unjustly forgotten filmmaker, and does so in his own words.

Jones was one of the most prolific screenwriters during the first decade of sound films in Hollywood. It is estimated that over 65% of Paramount Pictures' releases in the 1930s featured work by Grover Jones as the writer, gag man or script doctor. However, in the previous decade Jones, in addition to his work as a writer/gag man, directed some great silent comedies. THE STORY OF GROVER JONES recounts those days with Jones working with the likes of W.C. Fields, Bebe Daniels, Richard Talmadge, Billy Franey and Joe Rock told in his own words.
