Mantak Chia, nacido en 1944 en Tailandia, es un reconocido maestro taoísta, instructor y escritor especializado en prácticas de energía interna y bienestar holístico. Desde temprana edad, estudió técnicas budistas y artes marciales como Muay Thai, taichí chuan y kung-fu. Su formación se enriqueció bajo la guía de Yi Eng (Nube Blanca), un eremita de la secta Dragon's Gate de la escuela taoísta Quanzhen, quien le enseñó un sistema completo de formación taoísta y lo autorizó a enseñar y curar. Para comprender mejor los mecanismos fisiológicos que sustentan la teoría de la energía curativa, Chia estudió anatomía y ciencia médica occidental durante dos años.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran Automasaje chi: sistema taoísta de rejuvenecimiento (1990), El hombre multiorgásmico: secretos sexuales que todo hombre debería conocer (1997) y Despierta la energía curativa a través del tao: el secreto taoísta para hacer circular la energía interna (2000). Estos libros, centrados en el desarrollo de la energía interna y la salud integral, han sido traducidos a varios idiomas, incluyendo el español, y han contribuido a la difusión de las prácticas taoístas en Occidente.
