A esta le seguirían varios títulos, que abarcan la adolescencia, juventud y madurez de la protagonista y la serie de Emily Starr. También publicó colecciones de cuentos, poesías y una autobiografía en la que se advierten semejanzas y diferencias entre la vida de la escritora y las de sus heroínas. Hoy su obra es objeto de investigaciones, conferencias y homenajes en todo el mundo.
