Emily Wilson es una clasicista, traductora y profesora británica, reconocida por sus innovadoras traducciones de las obras de Homero al inglés. Nació en 1971 en Oxford y desde temprana edad desarrolló un profundo interés por las lenguas clásicas y la literatura de la antigua Grecia y Roma.
Estudió en Balliol College, University of Oxford, donde obtuvo su formación en Filología Clásica, y posteriormente realizó estudios de posgrado en Yale University. A lo largo de su carrera académica ha impartido clases de literatura clásica, traducción y estudios comparados, destacándose por su capacidad para acercar los textos antiguos a los lectores contemporáneos.
En 2017 publicó una nueva traducción de The Odyssey, convirtiéndose en la primera mujer en traducir íntegramente esta obra al inglés. Su trabajo fue ampliamente elogiado por su claridad, fidelidad al original y lenguaje accesible. Posteriormente tradujo The Iliad, consolidando su prestigio internacional como una de las principales especialistas en literatura clásica.
Además de sus traducciones, Wilson ha escrito ensayos y estudios sobre tragedia griega, filosofía y recepción de los clásicos. Actualmente es profesora en University of Pennsylvania, donde continúa investigando y promoviendo el estudio de la literatura antigua.
