It treats the story of Isaac and Rebecca as a framework within which to show that only the Gospel lets us understand our relationship to God, our spiritual needs, and the way to true happiness. With concern for the eternal welfare of his readers, Murdoch Campbell brings to these aims a wonderful knowledge and use of Scripture, and attempts to convey something of "what God has wrought".
