Maniscalco creció en Nueva York, ciudad donde estudió Bellas Artes antes de transferirse a Diseño de Comunicación en el Fashion Institute of Technology de Manhattan. Durante sus estudios, realizó cursos acerca de justicia criminal y ciencia, considerando formarse como psicóloga forense, opción que desechó por labrarse una carrera como escritora.

Su primera obra, A la caza de Jack el Destripador, fue publicada en 2016, dando comienzo así a una serie bajo el mismo nombre que cosechó gran éxito. También muy popular fue su serie El reino de los malditos, conformada por El reino de los malditos, Los siete círculos del infierno y El ascenso de las Temidas.
