Reseña del libro "A Different Story: How six Authors Became Better Writers (en Inglés)"

What happens when you combine six students and one teacher with the Jack Grapes Method Writing (JGMW) programme? Magic! Jules Swales ran a summer refresher class for her students who’d been studying the JGMW for a couple of years. The students attended with the only intention of being better writers. The short stories in this book are examples of what’s possible when people use their superpower, write like you talk, combined with the JGMW exercises.  Over the five weeks each writer used the exact same method to come up with six unique versions pieces of writing. Jules Swales describes the method and the exercises at the beginning of each week so that you can see what the students were up to and be amazed by what showed up. Each piece is a profound and individual expression brought about through the straightforward techniques of JGMW. Whilst the authors have studied the Method Writing for around two years, every piece in this book was written in the five-week period of one summer refresher class. Reviews    My book on Method Writing tells you how to do it. This book, with beautifully written examples, shows it. But it goes beyond Method Writing. A good writer speaks for all of us, digging into their authentic selves to keep the motors of life running, and they do it with words and sentences, language that crosses the boundaries of culture, ethnicity, religious beliefs, and geographical position. The writers in this book speak as human beings, as all of us, caught in this thing we call life, a shimmering kind of experience between our being born and our passing away. These writers in this book are witnesses to, what William Faulkner called, "the human heart in conflict with itself." If you're hungry, this book will feed you and nourish your heart. Jack Grapes, Method Writing and Last of the Outsiders    I suck at testimonials. They never come out how testimonials are suppose to. I attribute that to method writing. And this book is an excellent example of the work we do as method writers. The truth. The pain. The rawness in each of these pieces blows my heart away. I walked away wanting more. Thank you for sharing this work with the world. I loved feeling these writers hearts and soul through words. Thank you. Ivy Kaller, author of Method Writing with the Collective Underground        A Different Story is an exquisite read filled with writing gems that open your heart, stop your breath, and leave you asking for more. The commentary from writing teacher Jules Swales provides context and a back drop for each of the exercises, but when reading them, the structure is invisible. Each piece draws you into to its private moment and you feel deeply touched by the authors' honesty, vulnerability, and unique voice. This book is a wonderful example of how Method Writing brings out the best in writers.Rohini Ross, Co-Founder of The Rewilders    These are short stories that create paintings from words - powerful, colourful and heartrending. The Jack Grapes’ Method Writing (JGMW) takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and vivid imagery. For the writers, it may have been cathartic but for me, it was a feast for my senses.Hansa Pankhania, Author, Executive Coach, Speaker
