English summary: In a perspective of visual anthropology, the ancient Egyptian production and reception of images was related in particular to (a) the cultural dealings with death, (b) the relation with the world of the gods and (c) the staging of power. These three functions of representation, representativity or even representativeness were tightly interwoven in the ancient Egyptian culture, and in all three domains the problem of making visible the invisible was a central issue. With this introduction into the ancient Egyptian image production, Ludwig D. Morenz connects millennaries old materials with contemporary enquiry, applying a cluster of various analytical methods. Several case studies - partly on well-known objects - address new questions to images materialised in painting, rock engraving or relief, thus opening up new avenues of understanding. German description: In bildanthropologischer Perspektive pragten die altagyptische Bildproduktion und -rezeption besonders (a) der kulturelle Umgang mit dem Tod, (b) der Bezug auf die Gotterwelt und (c) die Inszenierung von Herrschaft. Alle drei Funktionen der Bildlichkeit waren in der altagyptischen Kultur eng miteinander verwoben, und in allen spielt die Problematik einer Sichtbarmachung des Abwesenden eine herausragende Rolle.Diese Einfuhrung in die altagyptische Bilder-Welt verbindet das Jahrtausende von uns entfernte alte Material mit modernen Fragestellungen, und es wird ein breites Spektrum von Methoden und Blickweisen vorgestellt. In Fallstudien zu teilweise bereits lange bekannten Objekten werden neue Fragen an die in Malerei, Felsritzung oder Relief materialisierten altagyptischen Bilder-Welten gestellt und damit neue Verstandniszugange eroffnet.
