Imagine that you are ten years old and that your parents take you to another state in the middle of the night, far away from friends and family. That teacher, embarrassed by your disclosure, turned his back on you and said there was nothing he could do. This shouldn't have happened in America in the 1970s, but it did. First-time author John Vernon breaks his silence as he presents the gripping tale of his journey of self-determination.
