Asagiri nació el 17 de marzo de 1984 en Ehime, Japón. Antes de empezar a trabajar en la serie Bungo Stray Dogs, originalmente trabajó como asalariado en una empresa de automóviles. Durante este segundo y tercer año comenzó a pensar que podría convertirse en un escritor de escenarios, pero su trabajo era exigente y no le permitía trabajar y escribir historias, por lo que Asagiri decidió dejarlo a principios de 2012 para seguir una carrera en escritura de escenarios.
Después de dejar el trabajo decidió crear cosas mientras seguía buscando un trabajo de redacción, durante este tiempo creó un canal Niconico y creó videos. Él crearía una serie de videos titulada "Yukkuri Yōmu y los mitos de Chthulhu realmente aterradores" con el personaje de la serie Touhou Yōmu Konpaku en forma de Yukkuri explicando los mitos de Cthulhu que rápidamente se hicieron populares. Sango Harukawa, nacida el 3 de mayo en Yokohama, prefectura de Kanagawa, Japón, es una reconocida mangaka e ilustradora japonesa. Es conocida por su trabajo en la serie de manga "Bungo Stray Dogs", que comenzó en 2013, donde colabora con el escritor Kafka Asagiri.
