English summary: As a "transhistorical phenomenon" (Scholl), the Grotesque forms the basis for bridging the 17th to the 21st century and Spanish to Latin American literature. It is particularly the Grotesque in Spanish literature - less frequently explored by more recent literary research - that can provide many compelling examples for innumerable epochs and movements throughout literary history. This volume contains case studies from the Spanish Siglo de Oro (Golden Century) up to contemporary Latin American literature. The Grotesque treads beyond the borders of genres and rules of artistic forms to express societal changes and diminishing certitudes in both a playful and critical way. Primary consideration is given to linguistic works of art, whilst relationships to stage, illustration and film are explored as well. German description: Die jungere Forschung hat das Groteske in der spanischsprachigen Literatur nur gelegentlich beachtet. Doch gerade hier gibt es zu zahlreichen Epochen und Stromungen der Literaturgeschichte aufschlussreiche Beispiele. Hier setzt dieser Band an: Die Beitrage liefern Fallstudien zum Zeitraum vom spanischen Siglo de Oro bis zur lateinamerikanischen Gegenwartsliteratur. Als transhistorisches Phanomen (Scholl) bildet das Groteske die Grundlage fur den Bruckenschlag vom 17. zum 21. Jahrhundert und von der spanischen zur hispanoamerikanischen Literatur. Es uberschreitet Gattungsgrenzen und Regeln kunstlerischer Ausdrucksformen, um ebenso spielerisch wie kritisch gesellschaftliche Veranderungen und schwindende Gewissheiten zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Der Band hebt vorrangig auf sprachliche Kunstwerke ab, berucksichtigt aber auch Beziehungen zu Buhne, Illustration und Film.
