Reseña del libro "Dasavatharam (en Inglés)"

Ten times, the stories say, Vishnu came down. A fish who warned the last honest man about a flood. A tortoise who held up a mountain while gods and demons churned the ocean. A boar who lifted the drowned earth on one tusk. A figure neither man nor beast, who stepped out of a pillar at the one hour that was neither day nor night. This is the Dashavatara, told in full — each descent given room to breathe, with the characters named, the stakes real, and the strangeness left in. It is also honest about what it does not know. Where the texts disagree, this book says so rather than quietly choosing. Where a story is older than its attachment to Vishnu, it says that too. The ninth avatar is contested, so both candidates are here — Buddha and Balarama — with the argument reported and no side taken. Each chapter closes with what the story is traditionally read as teaching, attributed to the tradition that reads it that way, and where the avatar is still worshipped today. Eleven full-colour illustrations, a table of the festivals, and a sources section that names what could not be verified. For readers who want the stories properly told — and told straight.
