Even though the Roman Empire was prophesied to be a key player during the time of Christ most Christians today do not know or understand the role they played during the unfolding of the "New Testament" times. The events that occurred influenced the writers and the writing of the scriptures. Ron McRay, in "Don't Worry About It Right Now," gives a broad overview of what kind of world the Apostles lived in during the 1st century. They often mentioned different events that were occurring and sometimes those events were the fulfillment of prophecies centuries before.
