Experiencing the City of Autonomous Driving (en Inglés) - Dario Costi

This volume presents the outcomes of the two-year project “THE CITY SCHOOL. Experiencing the City of People 4.0. The Sustainable Urban Design of Autonomous Mobility and the Smart Grid in Emilia-Romagna”. The project tried to answer the central question: How will cities change when, and if, the transition toward the autonomous vehicles becomes an integral component of a mobility system conceived as a “service”, where the relationship with vehicles will no longer be tied to the notion of individual ownership? This book discusses how cities and territories might evolve with the advent of autonomous driving, starting from the premise that architectural and urban design - understood as research by design - can provide meaningful feedback to hypotheses developed within mechatronic and transport engineering. The chapters, selected upon a positive evaluation by the series editorial board, present critical, analytical, and design-based ideas helping understand the relationship between the city and future mobility.
