Fotógrafa, escenógrafa, guionista y novelista francesa, Valérie Perrin nació el 19 de enero de 1967 en Remiremont. Su carrera en el cine despegó tras su encuentro en 2006 con el director Claude Lelouch. Con él ha trabajado como fotógrafa y como coguionista.

A pesar de sus numerosos trabajos en el ámbito cinematográfico, fue con sus novelas que Perrin se dio a conocer al público.

Su debut literario, Les Oubliés du dimanche, fue publicado en 2015 y recibió la aclamación de la crítica, que lo reconoció con más de una decena de premios. Con El secreto de las flores siguió aumentando su popularidad. Traducida a cinco idiomas y ganadora del Premio Maison de la Presse 2018, la obra le supuso un gran éxito en Francia.
