FROM DUST TOWARDS DESTINY Young girls and women in Tanzania - How do they live? How do they survive? More often than not, these young women suffer abuse, abandonment, and unending poverty. Within my many travels there, I saw these terrible things happen everyday. However, I also saw their hope, determination, their love and courage in their hearts. I was determined to help these women and girls; in supporting their fearless nature, their ongoing courage and to help them continue to listen to that small voice inside themselves. This is the voice that carries you to the next step that you have found, a step closer to your destiny.
With the lack of care these girls have experienced in their young lives, it is remarkable they have survived. However, they have not only the capacity to survive but to dream and then to dream for their children. They are all reaching towards their goals: to go to school, to escape torture, to find a trade, perhaps even to go to college.. The five NGOs and the women connected with them from various tribes in North Tanzania are a small sample. If you open your heart., you may find you have the capacity to connect with the struggles of women/girls anywhere. Perhaps, there is something you could do within your local region?
Finally, these stories are authentic, a set of twelve 1st person accounts. None of them had ever been asked to tell their life story before this printing. The names are not identified but each one of them has been given a beautiful Kiswahili name from their culture for this publication. Natumai utafurahiya simulizi hizi zenye utambuzi.
