During forty plus years as a Cumberland Presbyterian pastor, I probably have heard it at least a score of times. People have said, when somehow becoming acquainted with the Cumberland Presbyterian Confession of Faith, something like this, "Wow! Cumberland Presbyterians have a really good theology." Or, "This is what I always have believed, but I didn't know it." Or, "This is a theology with which I can be comfortable." These kinds of comments have been made by new members of a congregation, some who have come from other church backgrounds, from candidates for the ordained ministry, from ministers transferring from other denominations, and from friendly readers of our theology. We Cumberland Presbyterians do have a really good theology. I have written this book because I hope that this theology will, more and more, come to have us?"
