Historical exertions by Black women left us a legacy and offer a guide on how to achieve success in America's higher education system and beyond. We want to contribute to the continuum that teaches how to lift and climb in the face of trials and struggles using essential traits of self-determination. Without such efforts the doors of higher education will not budge, and new in-roads will not be experienced. Our outcomes happen with intentional strategies and fortitude, built on self-determination. Change will only come when a committed group of diverse people joins Black women in championing needed reforms related to removing barriers that impede journeys of success. The importance of this work is embodied in the values, the knowledge, the talent and the extended resources we bring from our communities.
