Lawrence (Larry) Lewis writes about a place and a history to which he himself and several generations of his family have deep connections. He writes with the way of seeing in which "every- thing is connected to everything else." Osceola: A Town on the Border is a book that makes connections. In it, Larry weaves his own story into the story of his community's past (and present and future), intending to strengthen the fabric of our common life. In his younger days he was touched in personal ways by three instances of disaster (war, corporate crime and en- vironmental destruction) that have stimulated local citizens to de- velop resilient responses.
