Stieg Larsson (Skellefteå, Suecia, 1954 – Estocolmo, 2004) fue un escritor y periodista sueco reconocido mundialmente por la trilogía Millennium, compuesta por Los hombres que no amaban a las mujeres (2005), La chica que soñaba con una cerilla y un bidón de gasolina (2006) y La reina en el palacio de las corrientes de aire (2007). Su carrera previa en el periodismo de investigación, marcada por la defensa de los derechos humanos y la lucha contra la extrema derecha, influyó en el trasfondo social y crítico de su obra.
