Later, they spend a lengthy period of time in a remote cabin during a severe winter, constantly on the lookout for a hostile, nearby tribe. In this book, which James Curwood wrote, he portrays the struggle for survival in the Canadian wilderness at the turn of the century. The author weaves themes of exploration, discovery, and survival throughout the harsh but stunning setting he describes.
