Sonya Kirkland is a young woman of impressionable age that doesn't have very many friends and she doesn't date. She believes that the sanctity of marriage is the only thing that matters, but she has no idea how she is supposed to meet someone if she is constantly being overprotected by her parents. She knows that the world is not safe and that her parents are only doing what they feel is right. It doesn't make it any easier to reach for the stars or try to go her own way.
