Twisted Sister (en Inglés) - Nick Marotta

That collision, between a band built for bar-room survival and a moment of national moral panic, sits at the center of Twisted Sister: On Record, the series of independent, journalist-written unauthorised band biographies.

Long before We're not gonna take it became a stadium and picket-line anthem impossible to escape, Twisted Sister spent the better part of a decade grinding through the Tri-State club circuit. Sometimes playing more than 250 nights a year to earn a following major labels wouldn't touch.

Twisted Sister: On Record traces that entire arc in dense, sourced, unsentimental detail. From the club years and the loyal fan culture ("the SMFs") that grew out of them to the breakthrough of Stay Hungry. The infamous PMRC's 'Filthy Fifteen' list and the Senate hearing that followed. The band's abrupt commercial collapse. Dee Snider's career outside the band. And the fifty-year reunion that brought most of the original lineup back to European festival stages in 2026.

Drawing on trade press, court records, and published interviews, veteran music journalist Nick Marotta reconstructs the band's history chapter by chapter, era by era. The book closes with a look at Twisted Sister's musical influence and its unlikely second life as a protest anthem still sung at strikes and stadiums forty years on.

The book includes a full, cross-checked discography, an Essential Listening guide with a companion Spotify playlist, and a complete alphabetical source list. For readers who know the band only as the guys in We're not gonna take it or I Wanna Rock, Twisted Sister: On Record fills in everything the video's and the headlines never explained.
