This study examines the narrative techniques 't Hart uses to achieve this. His literary access to religion is characterised by a playful lightness that liquefies the Calvinism of his childhood, which had ossified into dogmatism. In this way, his books also invite the "floting believers" (Joep de Hart) to discover the aestetic-religious abundance of 't Harts literary world. The aesthetic transformation of a dogmatic piety furthermore buries the potential of 't Harts oeuvre for a contemporary, poetic and uncertain language of homiletics.
